DESCRIPTION:Dysphagia is an important problem that affects patients in
  a number of medical and surgical disciplines including ENT\, gastroen
 terology\, neurology and respiratory medicine. Causes of dysphagia can
  include head and neck cancer and its treatment\, neurological disease
 \, and intrinsic pathology in the pharynx and esophagus. Typically an 
 interdisciplinary approach is required to diagnose and treat underlyin
 g causes\, rehabilitate or repair swallowing mechanisms\, prevent aspi
 ration pneumonia and ensure adequate nutrition.
