- The course is aimed at practising Surgeons and Registrars. Advanced areas of surgical management will be covered. There is a focus on integrated medical and surgical management. Modern concepts of airway disease, inflammatory processes and an evidence based approach will be discussed. Live surgery is planned on Friday morning. Lectures and discussions will prepare the participants for two afternoon sessions in the dissection laboratory.

- Dysphagia is an important problem that affects patients in a number of medical and surgical disciplines including ENT, gastroenterology, neurology and respiratory medicine. Causes of dysphagia can include head and neck cancer and its treatment, neurological disease, and intrinsic pathology in the pharynx and esophagus. Typically an interdisciplinary approach is required to diagnose and treat underlying causes, rehabilitate or repair swallowing mechanisms, prevent aspiration pneumonia and ensure adequate nutrition.
